Spain’s famed and much loved food market Mercado de San Miguel has once again planted its pop up in the heart of Downtown Miami. Aptly named La FERIA, the gastronomic experience brings an exciting cultural experience to our vibrant metropolis, with the finest cured meats, aged cheeses and Spanish wines.
Just a few steps away from the bustle of Bayside Marketplace, the La FERIA tent emits a quintessential Spanish market essence, from the tantalizing aromas of paella to the richness of the European city’s famed wines. There is a warmth and friendliness from the waiters who invite you in and guide you. It is a casual affair that can be enjoyed whilst staying stationary at one of the market’s many waited on tables and also by wondering around the tent and browsing the many tempting food stations.
Served traditional tapas style, the food is crafted using fresh ingredients of the finest quality, carefully sourced from local artisans, bakers, and farmers, plus, it won’t have you digging too deep into your wallet, with small dishes decently priced at $2 to $5 each. The opportunity to discover new tastes and flavors is rife, with their collection of vendors serving up an array of fine meats, fish, pintxos and arroces. There is also an assortment of smaller stands that serve an exquisite choice of classic Spanish cheeses and cured hams. It’s ever so easy to get wrapped up in the rich flavors of their Spanish delicacies and feel as though you’ve been transported into the heart of Madrid’s.
With wine being a core feature in Spain’s gastronomy world, it’s apt that the circular bar takes center stage. It can’t be missed, with its grand wall of fine wines and vast range of Spanish beer and liquor. Ask the waiters for guidance and they’ll suggest with ease what’s best to try. High wooden stools decorate the bar and you’ll find yourself half way through an ice cold beer, when there’ll be a spontaneous outburst of Spanish dancing by the waiters, dressed in traditional attire. Also, a special touch to the pop up is their de oro (golden oven), where La FERIA will host some of the city’s greatest culinary talents.
You’ll be encapsulated by La FERIA and its collection of fine produce. Whether you pop by for a relaxing sunny afternoon or for after work dinner and drinks, the aroma, sounds and flavors will make you feel as though you really are tasting tapas and sipping on wine in Mercado de San Miguel.
